Jeeves' Guide to Caring for Your Enchanted Garden

If I may... please don't let the thought of caring for your Enchanted Garden worry you.

Many of our guests tell me they don't have a "green thumb," yet they are pleasantly surprised by just how easy these gardens are to enjoy. Your Enchanted Garden is made up of hardy tropical plants that simply appreciate a little light, an occasional drink of water, and a bit of attention now and then.

Think of it less as a chore and more as checking in on an old friend every few days.

Finding the Perfect Spot

A bright room with indirect sunlight is usually all your garden asks for. A nearby window is wonderful, but try to avoid strong afternoon sun, which can be a little too warm for the leaves.

Watering

Every few days, simply touch the top of the soil with your finger.

If it still feels slightly moist, your garden is perfectly content.

If it feels dry about an inch below the surface, it's time for a drink.

Water gently around the plants rather than all in one spot.

One little tip I always like to share...

If your decorative container does not have a drainage hole, simply use a lighter hand when watering. The soil should be comfortably moist—not soggy. A little water goes a long way.

If your container does have drainage, water until a little drains from the bottom, then let the excess drain away completely.

Comfortable Temperatures

If you're comfortable, chances are your garden is too.

Normal indoor temperatures between 65° and 80°F are ideal. Just try to keep it away from heating vents, fireplaces, or chilly drafts.

A Little Grooming

From time to time, you may notice an older leaf or spent bloom ready to retire.

Simply trim it away, and your garden will happily focus its energy on fresh new growth.

Feeding

During spring and summer, a little liquid houseplant fertilizer every couple of months is all that's needed. During winter, your garden is usually content to rest.

Please don't feel that your garden must be perfect.

Living gardens are meant to grow, change, and develop their own character over time. A new leaf, a taller stem, or a little pruning now and then simply means your woodland is alive and thriving.
